Renata is a Polish born painter resident in New Zealand since 2004.
Renata was in the North Island at the time of the 'quake. The timing of her exhibition at Flametree Gallery surely saved her from serious injury if in Linwood House where she has worked that past 4 months. Renata was in Thames that day and she and her husband, unable to get a flight, rented a car and drove back to Christchurch to support her family. As of today, (27 Feb. 2011) she is living without power, water nor sewage. She is a key player and worker in the community campsite. Together they have build an ablution block with shower and flushing toilets - ready for the long haul if that be the case. You can see that her desk stands as she left it a few days before.
Renata was visiting family in Poland at the time of the September 4 2010 Christhurch earthquake. Next door to her home in Christchurch is Linwood House which was tenanted at the time of the earthquake, It was badly damaged and Renata now makes her studio in one of the rooms.
Renata is a Polish born painter who has been living in New Zealand since 2004.
From 1995 to 2000 Renata studied painting, textile and drawing at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan, Poland in the ateliers of prof. Jan Switki (painting), and prof. Anna Goebel (textile).
In June 2000 Renata completed a Master of Fine Arts in the fields of painting and textile and in 2001 she was invited to represent Poland in the Jeux de la Francophile in Canada.
Renata has been an active working artist since graduating from the Academy. First in Poland and also in Holland where she completed work on commission as well as her own original work. Her work is found in private collections in Poland, Canada, Germany, Holland and New Zealand.
